BSC freshman enrollment up 6 percent
BSC remains the third largest college in the NDUS with 3,778 students enrolled this fall – a 1 percent increase over last year. Freshman numbers are up 6 percent. North Dakotans make up 82 percent of the student population at BSC, up almost 2 percent from last year. Part-time enrollment rose 3 percent.
BSC gets grant for mobile nursing simulation lab
A $100,000 grant from the USDA allowed BSC to purchase a roving simulation lab for students training to be nurses in medical centers in Hazen, Harvey, Ashley, Garrison and, starting next fall, Hettinger eliminating travel to Bismarck to work with the simulators. According to the U.S. Bureau Labors Statistics, there will be more than one million nursing vacancies by 2024.
Mass Comm student launches BSC’s first sports talk show
Sports Fyx is BSC’s first sports talk show and the brainchild of BSC Mass Communications student Levi Holzer. New episodes air every three weeks and include Mystic highlights, interviews, wrap-ups and more. The 15-minute segment airs on Dakota Media Access, is shared via social media, highlighted on the BSC website and will be shown during Mystic live-streamed athletic events.
