Richard Rothaus, PhD, current interim vice chancellor of academic and student affairs, and Lisa Feldner, PhD, current interim chief of staff and vice chancellor of information technology and institutional research, have been appointed to fill these positions in the North Dakota University System for the long term, effective immediately. This move solidifies the NDUS leadership team while streamlining office operations.
“These two talented individuals have served NDUS tirelessly and with the utmost dedication in interim positions during the past year,” said NDUS Chancellor Mark Hagerott, who took over leadership of the system July 1, 2015. “They have been my trusted advisors while balancing oversight duties of each of their areas. I felt it was imperative that we remove the interim titles and demonstrate that the NDUS leadership team has now been finalized so that education, government, business and community leaders know who to contact as we work together to take our system to the next level. Consolidating our positions also helps stretch our limited dollars.”
Rothaus formerly served as NDUS director of academic programs, research and accreditation, before assuming interim duties as vice chancellor. With this move, the director position will not be filled, and Rothaus will absorb most of those duties. Feldner formerly served as NDUS vice chancellor of IT and IR. That position will also not be filled, but Feldner will still oversee those areas while serving as chief of staff. Darin King has been appointed NDUS chief information officer and will lead the day-to-day IT operations, reporting to Feldner.
Feldner came to the NDUS in 2013 after serving as CIO for the state of North Dakota’s Information Technology Department, where she led several major IT initiatives and reported to Gov. Jack Dalrymple. She also previously served as the technology director for Bismarck Public Schools. Rothaus served as a tenured full-professor of history and assistant vice president for research at St. Cloud State University. He founded Trefoil Cultural, a cultural resources management firm that focused on the history and archaeology of the Northern Plains, before joining NDUS in 2014.
Other members of the NDUS senior leadership team reporting to Hagerott include Linda Donlin, vice chancellor of strategic engagement; Tammy Dolan, chief financial officer; and Rebecca Wimer, executive assistant to the Chancellor.
